Idris Elba Breaks The 'Flying Mile' UK Land Speed Record In A £175k Bentley

Big moment: On Thursday, Idris Elba broke the existing 'Flying Mile' UK land speed record - which has stood for almost 90 years - after climbing behind the wheel of a £175,000 Bentley on a beach in south Wales
Hollywood star Idris Elba has broken driving record after travelling at 180.361mph over a measured mile to break an 88-year-old driving record previously set by Sir Malcolm Campbell on Pendine Sands in Wales In 1927.

Elba, 42, had to cover a one-mile distance beating an average speed of 174.8mph in a £175,000 Bentley Continental GT to break the long-standing record. The record was independently verified by the UK Timing Association. See more photos after the cut...
