It’s been one year since over 200 girls were abducted from Chibok, Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents. The girls were taken on April 14, 2014, as they prepared for exams at the the Government Girls’ Secondary School in the community.
However, it took local and international outrage and the creation of a viral hashtag, #BringBackOurGirls, to force the Nigerian government to acknowledge the missing girls and begin rescue efforts.
BBOG group have selected 219 children to represent the kidnapped girls. They will lead a procession to the Ministry of Education in Abuja this morning.
