According to an eyewitness, after a peaceful election in the area, INEC officials started collation of the results. Unable to conclude the process Saturday night, they resumed Sunday morning at the local government headquarters.
He said, “But surprisingly, the party chieftains stormed the venue where Azudialu, an Okija indigene was already present to witness the counting process. When it became obvious the PDP candidate was loosing, the party chieftains moved in and started altering the results in favour of Anohu, Azudialu objected and in the process the party chieftains then physically assaulted him for daring to object to their alterations of the result, slapping him in quick succession.”
