Ex-Governor of Ogun State, Chief Gbenga Daniel, has described President Goodluck Jonathan as a true democrat and not a do-or-die politician. Daniel made this statement in Abeokuta on Wednesday. According to him, Jonathan is a peace-loving statesman going by his acceptance of the outcome of the presidential election won by the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
“Jonathan’s act is a rare show of honour and respect for the rule of law,” he said, adding that the president had etched his name in the book of history devoid of do-or-die tendencies of some world leaders. He congratulated President-elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on the feat at the closely-contested election and urged him to chart a way forward for the nation.
“Jonathan remains one of the few African leaders to openly concede defeat in a continent where most leaders would prefer to sit tight,” Daniel added.
